The head of the falls. 1900- SHAWINIGAN- UNE VUE DES CHUTES- EN ÉTÉ Photographie prise avant la construction du barrage. Soulignons le fait que déjà depuis de nombreuses années la renommée des chûtes était répandue bien au-delà des frontières canadiennes. Des peintres célèbres, dont Jacobi d'Allemagne, vinrent exercer leur art sur ces lieux. Après 1852, le site reçut la visite de nombreux et importants personnages dont au moins quatre gouverneurs-généraux canadiens : Lord Elgin, Sir E.Head, Lord Monck, Lord Dufferin.
