Norman Macmillan Hinshelwood (1873-1904) est né à Salford en Angleterre et meurt à Montréal, Canada. Il travaille comme expert-comptable et s’adonne à la photographie. Il publie notamment un livre de photographie de Montréal en 1903 ; Montreal and Vicinity: Being a History of the Old Town, a Pictorial Guide to the Modern City and an Illustrated Description of the Many Charming ... from the Author's Own Photographs. Il épouse Ethel Frances Smith en 1893 à Londres et auront un fil nommé Cyril Norman Hinshelwood en 1897.
